Promoting Through Leadership Development

Community Leaders Training Program

The organization’s 15-member “working” board is comprised of ACG residents and community, governmental and business representatives. In order to prepare for board service all prospective board members are encouraged to attend ACG’s Community Leadership Training.

Prospective board members attend three one-day training sessions during a six-month timeframe; the sessions focus on organizational development, finances, asset management, and conflict resolution.

Completion of the program prepares individuals for the opportunity to serve on ACG’s board of directors. The majority of the ACG board positions are held by residents of ACG communities and surrounding neighborhoods. All board members have the opportunity to also receive additional training through NeighborWorks America® Training Institutes.

ACG believes leadership development begins in your youth and has developed Youth Councils at each community. These unique Youth Councils give the youth the opportunity to plan community field trips, on-site activities and community improvement projects—factoring in funds that have been budgeted or raised through planned activities.
